7 Common Lines You Can Treat with Botox

June 20, 2024

It used to be that telltale signs of aging like lines and wrinkles were just another part of life. Over time, lotions and potions were created to help reduce them, but for some those solutions simply aren’t effective enough. Enter Botox. Botox was first introduced in the 1970s, but only became available for cosmetic use in 2002. Since then, millions of people around the world have received this injectable to help smooth the skin and restore a more youthful appearance to the face. Botox can be used to treat many common types of wrinkles, including some you may not have realized. Here are seven main varieties that you can improve with the help of this innovative product!

1.    Bunny Lines

Sure, bunny lines sound cute, but if you’re not a big fan of those little horizontal lines that run across the top of your nose, Botox can help!

2.    Crow’s Feet

Crow’s feet (also known as lateral canthal lines or periorbital lines) often show up when we smile or laugh but adorning them with another cute animal name won’t make them any easier to love. Thankfully, Botox can be used to smooth them away, so they aren’t visible whether you’re smiling or not.

3.    Glabellar Lines

The most common lines to be treated with Botox, glabellar lines appear on an area of the forehead known as the glabella, which is located vertically between the eyebrows and above the nose.

4.    Forehead Lines

Forehead lines occur horizontally across the frontalis muscle. They are often more pronounced when you raise your eyebrows and this muscle contracts.

5.    Lipstick Lines

Lipstick lines can be caused by several things, including smoking, puckering, and genetics. They can be especially frustrating when your lipstick bleeds into them, but they can easily be removed with the help of Botox.

6.    Marionette Lines

Marionette lines extend from the corners of the mouth downward to the chin, giving the appearance of the mouth of a marionette puppet. Though typically deeper thank others, these lines can often be softened or completely smoothed with the help of Botox.

7.    Chin Dimpling

Oranges may taste great, but that doesn’t mean you want to look like one. Chin dimpling often creates that “orange peel” effect on your chin. Botox can often help remove some of these lines, but patients may want to combine their treatment with dermal fillers for a smoother look and feel.

If you have any of these common facial lines, don’t believe you have to just accept them or settle for the so-so results of over-the-counter anti-aging products. Speak to your dentist today to learn more about whether Botox is right for you.
